List of Countries in US Travel Ban 2025

President Trump has signed Executive Order 14161 of January 20, 2025 restricting the entry of foreign nationals and aliens into United States. The purpose of the order is to safeguard United States from national security, espouse hateful ideology, or otherwise exploit the immigration laws for malevolent purposes, recommending that entry restrictions and limitations be placed on foreign nationals of several countries. This proclamation is effective at 12:01 am eastern daylight time on June 9, 2025.

The following countries have been blacklisted for these reasons..

  • Information-sharing and identity-management protocols
  • deficient vetting and poor security practices
  • competent or cooperative central authority for issuing passports or civil documents 
  • significant risks of overstaying their visas 

Full Ban

  1. Afghanistan,
  2. Burma,
  3. Chad,
  4. Republic of the Congo,
  5. Equatorial Guinea,
  6. Eritrea,
  7. Haiti,
  8. Iran,
  9. Libya,
  10. Somalia,
  11. Sudan, and
  12. Yemen. 

These restrictions distinguish between, but apply to both, the entry of immigrants and nonimmigrants.

Partial Ban

These countries will have entry into the United States of as immigrants, and as nonimmigrants on B-1, B-2, B-1/B-2, F, M, and J visas, is hereby suspended. Other visas will have reduced validity.

  1. Burundi
  2. Cuba
  3. Laos
  4. Sierra Leone
  5. Togo,
  6. Turkmenistan
  7. Venezuela.

Note: Exemptions apply to green card holders, dual citizens, athletes, immediate family members and other visa holders.
