Denmark legally permits dual nationality to danish nationals including naturalized citizens.. On 18 December 2014, the Danish Parliament passed a landmark bill amending the Nationality Act to allow for full access to dual/multiple nationalities. On 1 September 2015 the dual citizenship law in Denmark act came into force.
Danish Nationals
Danish citizens who acquired foreign nationality upon application or consent before 1 September 2015 will have lost their Danish nationality. To reacquire their Danish nationality by making a declaration to the Ministry of Immigration and Integration, provided they fulfil certain requirements.
The declaration must be made from 1 July 2021 up to and including 30 June 2026.
Foreigners
The New rules also apply for foreign naturalised citizens, who are included in a bill on naturalisation, no longer require renunciation of their previous nationality (dual citizenship allowed).
