The Cabinet of Bangladesh has approved dual citizenship to a total of 101 countries making it easy for bangladeshi nationals to acquire dual citizenships legally with these nations. Naturalised citizens of the following countries having Bangladeshi origin are eligible to apply for dual nationality certificate. Bangladeshi nationals can also freely apply for citizenship by investment schemes without any restrictions.

On Feb 27, 2023 cabinet has approved the proposal to issue an SRO (State Regulatory Order) on providing dual citizenship benefits to Bangladeshis holding citizenship of different countries.  According to Clause (2) of Article 2B of the Bangladesh Citizenship (Temporary Provisions) Order, 1972, if Bangladeshi National Foreign Citizen Wants to get Dual Citizenship of Bangladesh he/she has to apply to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Bangladesh by prescribed form.

Dual Nationality Certificate (DNC)

Foreign citizens of Bangladeshi origin (by birth) and their children may apply for a Dual Nationality Certificate (DNC). The final decision lies with the Government of Bangladesh in approving the status of dual citizenship.  

Application seeking Dual Citizenship of Bangladesh shall be submitted in prescribed Form ‘A’ in triplicate. If the applicant is a person temporarily residing in Bangladesh, the application shall be submitted directly to the Government and if the applicant lives outside Bangladesh, application shall be submitted through the concerned Bangladesh Diplomatic Mission or Consulate or a Bangladesh Mission or Consulate nearest to the country where there is no Bangladesh Mission or Consulate.
