Ban on Russians applying for Golden Visas

The Western countries have targeted Russia’s wealthiest by limiting the sale of golden passport program by imposing restrictive economic measures and financial sanctions including a ban on SWIFT financial system.

This means from now on, Russian nationals will be banned from applying for ALL citizenship by investment and Golden visa programs. Malta, Greece and Portugal already announced suspension of golden visa application from Russian and Belarus investors. Other countries to follow.

The following countries has imposed a temporary ban on nationals from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus from applying for CBI and Golden visas

  • Greece
  • Malta
  • Spain
  • Antigua and Barbuda
  • Dominica
  • Grenada
  • St Kitts and Nevis
  • Saint Lucia

The leaders of the European Commission, France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States condemn Putin’s war of choice and attacks on the sovereign nation and people of Ukraine, according to the official statement.

Specifically, we commit to taking measures to limit the sale of citizenship—so called golden passports—that let wealthy Russians connected to the Russian government become citizens of our countries and gain access to our financial systems.

The Commission has also said that they will also engage other governments and work to detect and disrupt the movement of ill-gotten gains, and to deny these individuals the ability to hide their assets in jurisdictions across the world.
