Antigua and Barbuda has temporarily removed the 5 day visit requirements to renew passport under citizenship by investment program due to investors who are unable to travel to Antigua and Barbuda due to Covid-19 travel ban. This was announced by Cabinet last week amending the 5 day requirement.
The extension of suspension will be valid until Aug 31, 2022
So far, Antigua was the only CBI program in the Caribbean requiring a personal visit for 5 days. The current CIP regulations, atleast main investors (children are exempted) are required to physically travel to Antigua and Barbuda to renew their passport which expires after 5 years. Once the passport is renewed after first time, the validity is increased to 10 years.
This makes the Antigua and Barbuda investor citizenship program more easy, attractive and more accessible to foreign investors. The CIP so far remains the cheapest for families in the Caribbean. Lately, the Government made important amendments to CIP regulations, including expanding the scope of citizenship scheme launching of University of West Indies Fund.
All passports issued under the CIP can now be renewed at any Antigua consulates abroad. The consulates will be able to provide passport services, apostille/legalisation, birth and marriage certificates for a fee.
The resumption of commercial flights into Antigua and Barbuda commenced on 4 June 2020. nationals and residents will be coming into the country are required to register online application.
The V.C. Bird International Airport is open for international and regional air traffic. Arriving passengers by air must have a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR (real-time polymerase chain reaction) taken within seven (7) days of their flight.
