In general, EU and EEA including Swiss and Andorra nationals cannot apply for any golden visa programs. It makes it superfluous for nationals of these countries to apply for EU Golden visa schemes seeking residency. Only third country nationals are eligible to apply for Golden visa schemes (eg. US, Canada, India, China). Family members of EU/EEA citizens who are third country nationals may be eligible to apply for Golden visa.

As a result of Brexit, UK nationals are also considered third country nationals eligible to apply for EU Golden visa programs. Portugal, Greece, Ireland are the three most popular GV programs in the European Union.
